Familiarization with the Embroidery Machine (e.g., zig-zag machine, Aari machine, or multi-needle automatic machine).
Understanding machine parts, threading, winding the bobbin, adjusting tension, and troubleshooting common defects (e.g., looping, thread breakage).
Basic care, cleaning, and maintenance for longevity.
Materials Science:
Study of various Threads (Rayon, Polyester, Metallic, Cotton) and selecting the right Needles for the job.
Understanding Stabilizers (Cut-away, Tear-away, Wash-away) and which to use for different fabrics.
Hooping Techniques: Correctly securing different types of fabric (knits, wovens, bulky items) in the embroidery frame to prevent puckering.

Appliqué: Creating designs by stitching fabric cutouts onto a base fabric.
Cut Work: Creating open spaces in the fabric, finished with machine stitches.
Shade Work/Filling: Techniques for filling large areas with different stitch densities and thread colours to create depth and texture (e.g., long and short stitch methods).
Cording & Taping: Using machine functions to attach cords, zari, or ribbons for specialized textural effects.
Design and Colour Theory:
Motif & Design Sourcing: Finding inspiration from nature, historical designs, or trends.

Learning techniques for combining machine embroidery with other surface embellishments like Sequins, Beads, and Mirrors.
The final month often includes an introduction to professional tools and a final project to create a finished product.
Introduction to Digitizing (if applicable):
CAD Basics: A brief overview of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (like Wilcom or basic vector programs).
Understanding Embroidery File Formats (.DST, .PES, etc.).
Basics of taking a digital image and converting it into a simple stitch file (digitizing basics).
Scaling, resizing, and simple design editing on the software.
Finishing & Quality Control:
Finishing processes like trimming threads, removing stabilizers, pressing, and packaging.
Identifying and correcting quality defects in finished work.
Costing: Basic calculation of materials and labour for a finished embroidered product.
Final Project:
Designing and creating a complete, finished product (e.g., an embroidered Saree Border, Salwar Kameez Neckline, Cushion Cover, or Wall Hanging) that demonstrates a variety of learned stitches and techniques.
This 3-month format is usually very hands-on and project-based, aiming for maximum practical skill acquisition in a short time.
